Lee Estrada grew up in Garfield
He performed for parties, classroom assemblies, and PTA shows as he could not appear in nightclubs due to being underage in the mid-teens.
In 1973 Lee Estrada started to receive bookings from talent agents singing with Sha-Na-Na type Golden Oldies bands for pay and after graduating from Montclair State with his music degree began to tour nightclubs and opened for the original “Angels” girl group (recorded “TILL”) in Sussex County NJ.
In 1979 Estrada signed a contract with Shelly Productions Inc and began to open Oldies Concerts for all the Original Rock N’ Roll acts and toured the Tri-State area.
His opening act credits resemble the Who’s Who of Rock N’ Roll music!
In 1984, Lee Estrada signed his recording contract between Shelly Productions and Lucifer Records and recorded an August tribute single of MEMORIES b/w OH PRETTY WOMAN which was promoted on radio and television with various appearances on WCBS-FM radio in NY and the Uncle Floyd Show along with the Joe Frankin show. After this Lee toured Japan during the President Reagan Economic Summit in April 1986 and then guest appeared on the Howard Stern radio show. During this time Lee added a costumed tribute to Roy Orbison as well which became a one-man Legends show backed by various bands in NJ, NY and on tour.
Lee Estrada was also the first Elvis Impersonator to use backing tracks (prior to their commercial creation and karaoke!!) which he made using the Thompson Vocal Eliminator to remove Elvis’ voice from recordings and used the result as background during live shows.
In 1992 Estrada then was featured at the NYC Democratic Convention where he met and sang for Al Gore after a brief introduction and handshake by the now Nobel Peace Prize Winner and ex Vice-President.
On January 8th 1993 Lee Estrada was chosen to perform as Elvis for the issue of the Elvis Presley Postage Stamp in NYC and on television and radio WPLJ with Scott Shannon.
Presently Lee can be seen as the lead singer of the band MIRROR IMAGE which he established in 1988 and plays today for shows, weddings, and lounges.
